    Theme Leads (Drill and Firearms) – Female Roles – CLOSING DATE 22 March 2021

    A key role within the Policing Advisory Services Programme, which provides advice and support to international partners in developing their security and policing capacity and capability. This role is focused in the Middle East working directly with the Ministry of Interior and sectors therein.

    Location: ICT – Based in the Middle East, with occasional working from 2MS

    1. Theme Leads (up to 2)

    Theme Leads (Drill and Firearms) within a Security College, Middle East [country to be discussed at interview stage], advising on the design, development and delivery of a female recruit basic training courses and basic instructor courses. Will manage a team of instructors and have responsibility of the day-to-day delivery of their theme/subject, escalating to the (Deputy) Training Delivery Manager and Project Manager where necessary.

    Experience and Qualifications –

    Firearms Theme Lead
    Essential Experience and Qualifications:
    • Possess All Arms Skill at Arms or Police Firearms Instructor or Civilian Firearms Instructor qualification
    • A Range Conducting Officer qualification with extensive experience in planning and conducting Live Firing packages
    • Demonstrable experience in the design, delivery, management and evaluation of military/policing training
    • Holds (or held) Warrant Officer/Senior Non-Commissioned Officer level in the UK Armed Forces or Inspector within the UK Police
    • Experience instructing firearms within a Phase 1 Training Establishment or equivalent firearms instructing experience within the Police

    Desirable Experience and Qualifications:
    • Training and advisory experience within the Middle East
    • Level 4 training qualification (military training, adult education in the life-long learning sector, etc.)

    Drill Theme Lead
    Essential Experience and Qualifications:

    • Possess Basic All Arms Drill Instructor qualification
    • Demonstrable experience in the design, delivery, management and evaluation of military training
    • Holds (or held) Warrant Officer/Senior Non-Commissioned Officer level in the UK Armed Forces
    • Experience instructing drill within a Phase 1 Training Establishment

    Desirable Experience and Qualifications:
    • Training and advisory experience within the Middle East
    • Level 4 training qualification (military training, adult education in the life-long learning sector, etc.)

    Role description:
    Dual reporting into PM and the (Deputy) Training Delivery Manager covering delivery and quality aspects of the role. It is expected that the first deployment to the Middle East will commence in May 2021 for up to 11 weeks. Further deployments will be for up to 17 weeks. Some pre/post deployment work in the UK may be required. Due to cultural requirements, this role is open to women only.

    Pre/post-deployment
    • Manage the design of effective training programmes, produce training materials for bespoke courses and manage training delivery
    • Active role in selection of team working with Supplier
    • Lead on lessons learned and planning for future phases
    • Assisting with development of related courses and wider advice to Directorate

    Deployment
    • Effectively deliver and manage their respective theme
    • Establish strategic relationships at a senior-level and with the female faculty team
    • Manage delivery-level issues, escalating to the Project Manager and supplier as necessary
    • Lead and manage a team of instructors
    • Support the Project Manager in supplier management
    • Provide strategic advice on developing organisational training capabilities
    • Monitor, evaluate and review the progress of learners and the effectiveness of training delivered through evaluation
    • Maintain records of all training delivered at various levels for the client and internal reporting

    Contract:
    Work packages as described above and as directed by the Female Capabilities Project Manager.

    Deployment:
    11 to 17 week deployments a few times a year.

    Security Clearance
    SC Clearance is essential. Any candidate that does not already have SC clearance will be required to obtain SC clearance prior to role confirmation.

    Expenses:
    • Flights for official business will be included (on a case by case basis)
    • All Visas are included
    • All other expenses will need to be covered within the rate
