    Police Education Senior Instructor/Instructor – London ( East India Dock)

    Principal Accountabilities: 

    1. Carry out teaching/practical sessions and related activities across a range of modules or professional practice-based activities.
    1. As a Senior Instructor, act as line manager, where appropriate, and ensure that work is allocated fairly, according to individual skills, capacity and University requirements.
    1. Act as an academic personal tutor providing advice, guidance and support to students.
    1. The Senior Instructor role requires academic supervision to assist Instructors with course delivery and design.
    1. Contribute to DHEP and PCDA Programme and curriculum improvement through developing course content, reviewing current provision and designing course proposals. This will include the design of teaching material across a range of modules and courses, at a range of levels.
    1. Contribute to the accreditation of the PCDA and DHEP courses and quality assurance procedures including periodic reviews, approvals and annual monitoring.
    1. At Senior Instructor level, act as a module leader for modules with several groups, leading the module team and co-ordinating activities, resources and assessment.
    1. Work with colleagues to improve and enrich the experience of our students.
    1. Contribute to End Point Assessment supervision
    1. Undertake teaching preparation, assessment and administration activities.
    1. Ensure that all policies and regulations of the University are operationalised effectively within delivery, paying particular attention to the readiness to deliver in regard to student welfare, health and safety, disciplinary matters and student complaints.
    1. Comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR requirements in all working practices maintaining confidentiality, integrity, availability, accuracy, currency and security of information as appropriate. Take personal responsibility for all personal data within own working environment.
    1. Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required, commensurate with your grade

    Salary Range – £34,304 to £50,296 p.a

    Job Purpose – To design and deliver DHEP and PCDA programme modules and support recruits during their course.

    Assist the Police Education Principle Instructor with course delivery, content design, development and review

    Essential

    Undergraduate Degree, level 7 qualification or Commitment to work towards a level 7 qualification

    Experience of teaching, preferably in a higher educational environment

    Knowledge of policing practices

    Committed to provision of an excellent student experience.

    Ability to work co-operatively and as a part of a team

    Ability and desire to be flexible around course delivery to accommodate operational demands.

    Senior Instructor Ability to support motivate and inspire others by driving performance and professionalism

    Excellent communication and influencing skills

    Basic IT skills

    Committed to Equality and Diversity

    Compliance to Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR principles and requirements

    Ability to travel, as required by the job

    Successful NPPV1 from Metropolitan Police Service

    Desirable

    Relevant professional qualification in subject discipline at post- graduate level

    PGCE teaching qualification

    Experience of skills training delivery in a police environment

    Experience in delivering apprenticeship schemes

    Experience of module leadership role including quality assurance

    An understanding of how the PEQF adds value to the police and Higher Education Institutions
